Serengeti National Park


Serengeti National Park, the most iconic national park in Tanzania, is home to the wildebeest migration and thousands of wildcats and other animals.

The Serengeti hosts the largest terrestrial mammal migration in the world which helps secure it as one of the seven natural wonders of Africa.

The Serengeti area was founded because was used for hunting lions and it is one of the best places to observe pride in their natural environment, It spans 12,000 square miles (30,000 square kilometers) Altitude in the Serengeti range from 3,020 feet to 6,070 feet. (920 meters to 1850 meters) According to UNESCO, The usually warm and dry climate is interrupted by to rainy season in the month of May, June, and July and a shorter season in October and November.


Highlights

    Every year around October nearly 1.5 herbivores travel towards the southern plains, crossing the Mara River, From the Northern hills for the rains, and once again crossing the Mara River of the rains in around April.

    The Serengeti is renowned for its annual wildebeest migration when some 8 million hooves cross the open plains as more than1, 500,000 wildebeest 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle join the trek for fresh grazing. Predators follow the migration and sightings the big cats hunting is particularly exciting. Spotted hyena, Golden, and Black-backed jackal are never for off either.

    The Serengeti is the ancestral land of the Maasai community, The Maasai is one of the African communities that still exercise their ancient cultural rituals such as circumcision dances and Sacrifices. The Maasai have a rich history and culture they struggle to keep their culture as pure as possible, never less, this remains a challenge for them as the modern world keeps intrusion on their pastoral lives
